8 Movies You Didn't Know Were Secretly Directed By Other People

8. Super Mario Bros. (1993)

Super Mario Bros.Directed By... Annabel Jankel & Rocky Morton Secretly Directed By... Roland Joffe & Dean Semler I don't know who in their right mind would actually want a directing credit for a movie as plainly terrible as Super Mario Bros., so it's probably a good thing that a couple of people that probably should have been credited got their names axed - I bet they're counting their blessings, given that this proved itself to be something of a career killer for Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton. Have you heard of those two? You haven't? What a surprise. Still, rumour has it that one of the film's producers, Roland Joffe, who directed Robert De Niro in The Mission (believe it or not) and made the wonderful The Killing Fields, had a hand in directing this abomination of nostalgia-based crucifixion. Same goes for the movie's cinematographer, Dean Semler, who apparently had to get involved because Jankel and Morton seemed somewhat incapable. By the looks of things, everyone was.
