8 Upcoming Superhero Movies Guaranteed To Make A Billion Dollars

1. Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: The First Avenger grossed $370 million worldwide, a number which at the time solidified it as a hit (based on the fact that Marvel were adapting a relatively obscure character).

The Avengers earning over $1.5 billion changed everything though, and just like Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World received a boost the year before, so too did Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In fact, it far exceeded expectations with an impressive $714 million. And, between how well received that sequel was and the fact that it's coming hot on the heels of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America 3 hitting $1 billion always seemed extremely likely.

However, Marvel aren't taking any chances. Adding Robert Downey Jr. guarantees that Captain America: Civil War will hit that landmark number (Iron Man 3 is the only solo Marvel movie to reach it), while the addition of the rest of The Avengers also helps. Oh, and don't forget it marks Spider-Man's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Avengers: Age of Ultron's box office performance may have shown that the novelty of seeing these heroes assemble isn't as strong as it was in 2012, seeing them go to war with each other will most definitely put plenty of bums in seats next year.

Think any of these movies won't make a billion? Or was an obvious bit hitter missed off? Shout out your predictions in the comments!
