9 Actors You Didn’t Know Were In Movies

Those times that your favourite actors were hiding in plain sight.

Cameos and fleeting appearances are all part and parcel of the movie game.

For fans, it's a hugely satisfying feeling to catch a glimpse of one of your favourite actors just stopping by in a bit-part for a minute or a couple of scenes, and for those actors it can be rewarding to just be involved in a minimal way that's designed simply to be fun.

Now while there are so many times that we see such appearances happening, there are also so many times where one of our favourites may have appeared in a film, yet completely flown under the radar and been missed by many.

That could be down to prosthetic make-up, being used as a background player, or simply by how a filmmaker has decided to shoot their picture.

It's hard to keep a cameo from a major name under wraps these days, what with the internet meaning everybody knows everything about everyone, but there have still been times in (relatively) recent memory where some of the biggest actors of the day have been hiding in plain sight.

Here, then, are nine times that some huge names made appearances in movies without anybody even knowing.

9. Glenn Close In Hook

From the moment it opens, Hook instantly features two big surprise appearances that you wouldn't know about unless you know. Said surprises are Carrie Fisher and George Lucas as a couple sharing a kiss during the film's introduction.

Away from that, there's one other big-name star that is completely unrecognisable in Steven Spielberg's 1991 feature.

That person? Why, it's seven-time Oscar-nominated actress, Glenn Close.

When Dustin Hoffman's Hook looks to make a public example of one of his fellow pirates, he turns his attention to a bearded fella named Gutless.

What lies ahead for poor Gutless is a stay in Captain James Hook's 'boo box', which involved Gutless being locked in a chest with only scorpions to keep him company. Safe to say, Gutless had far from an easy ride in Hook during his extremely limited time in the movie.

Most interestingly, Gutless was actually played by Glenn Close. Gutless only appeared in the movie for a brief second, yet the character remains one of the most memorable of the entire picture and has since gone on to become a bit of a cult favourite for Hook fans. And all along, behind the beard, it was Glenn Close.
