9 Awesome Deleted Scenes From The Dark Knight Trilogy

9. The Joker Escapes The Penthouse

One of the most infamous deleted scenes of The Dark Knight occurs when the Joker breaks into Bruce Wayne€™s penthouse, crashing the fundraising party for Harvey Dent. The Joker soon turns his eye to Rachel and is distracted just long enough for Batman to intervene, culminating in the Joker throwing Rachel out the window as Batman leaps to catch her. The scene ends there without any mention of how the Joker escaped, which still confuses some people. It turns out that there was indeed a brief scene of the Joker getting away in a car driven by an anonymous henchman. Bloodied and frantic after the encounter with Batman, the following exchange takes place:
Driver: What do we do about Dent? The Joker: I€™m a man of my word.
This scene was definitely shot, as there exists both a production photo (see above) and footage of the scene being filmed in Chicago to back it up. For whatever reason, Nolan must have felt it didn€™t quite work with the pacing, hence it was cut. No doubt the scene would have lasted for just a moment, but knowing that there is a scene of the late Heath Ledger€™s Joker out there that may never be seen makes this something of a Holy Grail for fans. Perhaps one day you€™ll see it, but for now that remains a dream.
