9 Comic Book Movies That Divided Critics And Fans

8. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Suicide Squad Reviews

The debates surrounding the film that’s become the unofficial poster boy for this divide are more memorable than the movie itself. Zack Snyder’s glum punch up between the two comic icons drew bad reviews from day one, focusing on the muddy story, grim tone and the sheer lack of fun.

One of the most depressing images of the whole publicity tour was seeing Ben Affleck’s heart silently break during an interview, where the poor reviews were discussed, although he did still played the studio game, insisting the movie was made for fans and not snooty critics. To be fair to him, a fair amount of fans seemed to agree with him, loving the movie regardless of the critical panning.

All their lives they'd been waiting for the two titans to appear in a film together and Dawn Of Justice gave them just that; the movie even threw in Doomsday free of charge. Affleck made for a great Batman, and it had occasionally some good action too. The overall reaction to Dawn Of Justice appears to be a disappointment - the box office certainly reflects this - but there are plenty in the fan community who will defend it.
