9 Legendary Deleted Film Scenes (You'll Never Get To See)

8. The Bloody Final Shootout - Desperado

Columbia

Desperado is hardly lacking for action - barely five minutes go by without some kind of shootout. But the final showdown between Antonio Banderas and his drug lord brother is a surprisingly low-key affair. They argue for awhile, things get tense and Banderas shoots him dead as the scene fades out.

But originally the scene erupted in a bloody gun battle, with Banderas and love interest Selma Hayek taking on and killing all the drug lord€™s henchmen too. But Desperado had ratings trouble because of its high level of violence, so instead of making trims throughout the whole movie director Robert Rodriguez decided to remove this final action scene to appease the ratings board.

It must have worked, as the film got approved. Rodriguez talks about the missing gunfight on the DVD commentary, but it'€™s nowhere to be found on the disc. Rodriguez is a director who€™s generous with sharing extra material, so if he hasn'€™t released it then it€™s most likely lost. The above still of Selma Hayek firing a shotgun is the only known photo of this showdown.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
