9 Movies That Everyone Has Been Tricked Into Believing They Love

You really don't like these movies as much as you think you do.

Every now and again, a movie will push its way into theatres with all the self-entitlement of a Gloria Swanson character, demanding that everybody fall in love with it without question, and I won't take no for an answer. Most of the time, the population at large will turn to this movie and utter something that rhymes with "Muck you." Such a thing happened with The Lone Ranger, and we all know how that one turned out, don't we?

Occasionally, though, things go the other way, and a movie finds itself adored and embraced by the masses simply because the masses have been convinced - for some reason or another - that they should like the movie. Worse yet, those who walk this path genuinely believe that they're enjoying the movie in question. They're not doing it to spite the rest of us. They really think that said movie is good, and were happy they spend the cash. But there are ways in which we can be deceived by the motion picture business.

Think about the way that The Lone Ranger galloped into theatres, packaged perfectly for global dominance. Disney and Johnny Depp: what could go wrong? Lots, evidently. The point is that we're not always quite so good at realising when there's a Lone Ranger in the midst. There are several factors that might, in fact, trick us into thinking that we love certain flicks.

Let's get it out of the way, then: when I say everyone, I mean "a large amount of people" - my intention is not to insult your movie-going habits, because for all I know you don't like any of these movies, and if that's true, good for you and let me say thanks on behalf of cinema lovers everywhere. The title merely exists to imply that a lot of people like these movies, and shouldn't be taken all that literally. Without further ado, then, let's get started, shall we?
