"I'll be back." Truer words were never spoken. James Cameron produced two of the greatest scifi action films of all time with the one-two punch of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Both films became the standard-bearers for action cinema and launched the career of womanizing stud Arnold Schwarzenegger who parlayed his stardom into a disastrous run in the governor's seat of California. The immense popularity, and profit, of both films ensured that Hollywood would continue to create more sequels depsite T2 tying up every narrative loose end in the Terminator saga. Not letting integrity or story continuity get in its way, Hollywood unleashed Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator: Salvation on audiences whose nostalgia for the once great franchise ensured decent box office returns. But the new movies didn't continue the story established in Terminator 1 and 2 so much as curb stomped it into an unrecognizable mush and pissed on the remains. Now, Annapurna Pictures is taking a swing at reinvigorating the Terminator's lifeless corpse with Terminator 5 but at this point most Terminator fans would prefer to see the franchise take a bath in molten steel.
