9 Terrible Casting Decisions That Ruined Great Movies

8. Kate Capshaw - Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom

Everybody loves Raiders Of The Lost Ark; that's just scientific fact. Reaction to the sequels is a little more complicated; Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull has been disowned by humanity, Last Crusade is a fun adventure that doesn€™t hit the same heights as Raiders and Temple Of Doom is a real marmite experience.

Some fans adore it, others feel it€™'s too dark and mean-spirited; Spielberg himself has essentially disowned it for the latter reason. There'€™s one common element that unites fans about Temple Of Doom; Kate Capshaw is really awful. Maybe it€™'s the way her character is written €“ a shrieking irritant constantly in need of rescue €“ or the way she was directed, but most of her scenes are a chore to get through.

Where most fans fell in love with Karen Allen€™s Marion, they fell in hate with Capshaw€™s Willie Scott. Capshaw has shown she€™s a more than capable actress in other movies like Black Rain, so Willie feels like a comedy experiment that went very, very wrong.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
