9 Times Actors Genuinely Bled In Movie Scenes

7. Leonardo DiCaprio - Django Unchained

If there was any justice in the world, Leonardo DiCaprio's performance as Calvin Candie for Tarantino's Django Unchained would have won him an Oscar before he actually got his first. It might not have been a particularly Academy-friendly movie, but DiCaprio's intense, explosive performance was an absolute stand-out and inverted every expectation we had of the actor.

And as a mark of how committed he was in offering the perfect performance as the slave-owner megalomaniac, DiCaprio was even willing to bleed to really sell his big moment. When he discovers that Django and Broomhilda have an existing relationship and Christoph Waltz's King Schultz is there to dupe him, he loses the plot and in telling a story about slave genetic inferiority thumps the table.

Unfortunately for DiCaprio, he was so lost in the moment that he smashed his hand onto a glass and cut his hand for real. Luckily for Quentin Tarantino, the take was so good that he kept it and got the added bonus of real blood in there too.
