Alex Cross: 10 Reasons You Should Watch It

After Morgan Freeman successfully portrayed the character of Detective Alex Cross, a very strange decision was made: Tyler Perry, infamous for his performance as the spunky woman Madea, was set to reboot the franchise and give a more faithful adaptation of the character and James Patterson's celebrated and best-selling novels. Earning only 12% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and earning just north of $25 million domestically, one can't quite say that the Alex Cross reboot was a huge success. However, there is a sequel supposedly already greenlit titled Double Cross, and with the film hitting shelves on February 5th and all the bad buzz that's coming with it, we just thought we'd be a little more positive about things and give you some reasons to actually be excited to sit back and watch a film that had the actual tagline of: "Don't ever cross...Alex Cross...."

10. More Reason To Love Idris Elba

Before Tyler Perry was strangely chosen, Idris Elba was apparently considered for the role and was a fan favourite Anyone who has read the books knows Elba would have been perfectly cast and brought a proper depth to the character judging from his fantastic work in the BBC crime drama, Luther. Yet, the studio decided Madea was a better choice (more commercial) and gave him the gig. Even if Perry knocked the performance out of the park (he got some positive notes from critics and from Patterson), there's still going to be a feeling deep in all our guts that Idris Elba could've done better because...well, he's Idris Elba! So, worst case scenario, Alex Cross could end up being just one more reason to send our love and support Detective Luther's way.
