Alien: Covenant - 15 Blunders That Ruined The Film

14. No Helmets, No Common Sense

Ridley Scott assured fans that Covenant wouldn't repeat Prometheus' mistakes, and one of its most complained about aspects was the litany of dumb scientists who brought about their own end by ignoring basic protocol and essentially doing everything you shouldn't do when scouting an uncharted planet.

Covenant gets off on the wrong foot by having the colonists arrive on Origae-6 without helmets or any substantial clothing which could protect them from a hostile environment or its inhabitants.

Compounding this irritation is the fact that characters routinely head off on their own without being mindful of their environment, hence how Ledward is the first person infected by the black goo spore and Rosenthal is decapitated by the neomorph.

It's just so counter to what actual human beings would do in these situations, but at least nobody smokes weed through their suit this time...
