Alien: Covenant Offers A First Look At The New Bad-Ass Hero

Warning: some Where's Wally experience may be necessary.

After the sneaky set leak released a couple of days ago revealed a first look at some new aliens and suggested a raging war between them and humanoids on the mysterious planet Alien: Covenant will at least partly be set on, we've now finally got a first official image.

Well, sort of anyway. What we really have is a shot of a video bank, teasing a scene set seemingly within the Covenant ship.

Most importantly, it shows Daniels, the new lead of the movie who is played by Katherine Waterston and who will replace Noomi Rapace for the Prometheus "sequel".

She's there, I promise. Look...

There's not really much to go by: it certainly LOOKS like an Alien film. And the "nowhere to run" caption added to the official Facebook post suggests we're getting another survival horror like the originals, so that's good.

And as for Daniels: the vest and short hair motif is very Ripley, and the big bloody gun is very Colonial Marines. She might appear to be trapped, but this is not a rat up a drainpipe situation: she's equipped to fight back and her pose looks like she's hunting rather than being hunted.

Will she return for the third pre-Alien trilogy movie that Fox have already promised? Time will tell.
