Amazon's movie download service launches

_42063522_unboxbody203.jpgAs promised last weeek, Amazon's online movie download service is now live (called unbox, what the hell?). The service offers both tv shows and feature films to buy or to rent with a good selection of new and old titles. The prices don't actually seem too bad if your renting them as it's $3.99 but to purchase a movie it will cost between $7.99 (for an old title) or $14.99 (for a new title). TV Shows are priced at $1.99 per episode. Obviously there are restrictions put in place for what you download. Amazon have blocked the ability to burn your purchase to a DVD and for renting purposes once you have started watching your movie, you have 24 hours before it is removed from your pc. Currently the service is only available in the U.S. and it's going to be interesting to see how Apple are going to respond to this tommorow as they plan to unveil their movie download service.
