Anne Hathaway WOULD Return As Catwoman To The DCEU

Kitty wants to play again.

As all Nolanites will furiously tell you, Anne Hathaway didn't actually play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, because she was never called the name. She was just Selina Kyle. Alright, neck beards, calm down, she was Catwoman in all but name, and it seems she'd do it all again, even with Nolan gone.

Speaking to Variety at the Toronto Film Festival, Hathaway side-stepped the logistical issues with introducing a character from an entirely different timeline to say she'd definitely come back if the call came in:

"I loved that character and I had such a blast playing her. I’m not sure how it would work because I think the Chris Nolan chapter of the Batman story has been wrapped up and I’m part of that, but I love the DC Universe and it would be fun to take a trip back."

That's a hell of an issue, but then the MCU brought back William Hurt's General Ross while quietly trying to hide the fact that The Incredible Hulk actually counts as a Phase One movie. So there are ways around these sorts of things.

And maybe a spin-off would be the right way to go, with the DCEU splintered off, rather than them seeking a unified narrative despite all the issues so far.

There's more likely a chance that Catwoman would return with an entirely new actor under the latex, and luckily for Hatahway she doesn't actually feel all that possessive of the role anyway:

"I don’t think you can. It sort of goes with the territory when you accept it and receive it from the last Catwoman. I was shown such generosity from Halle [Berry] and from Michelle [Pfeiffer], and so I would do that the next time as well."
