Avengers 4: Spider-Man Will Definitely Appear

"That's it for now..."

The future of Spider-Man is still uncertain. There had been some talk recently that Spider-Man wouldn't be continuing in the MCU after the already announced Homecoming sequel currently set for release in Summer 2019, but that might well just be a case of the producers reconvening to cut an extension to the rights-sharing deal.

For now, we can only deal in absolutes, and Kevin Feige has offered another one on the immediate future of Spidey's involvement in the MCU. He has confirmed in an interview with THR that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is definitely booked into the MCU for Avengers 4, which is set for release in May 3, 2019.

Some might take this as an indication that the reports of the deal ending with the Homecoming sequel are incorrect, aside from the small fact that the sequel itself comes out AFTER Avengers 4. So this is hardly confirmation that he's in for the long-haul.

And while Kevin Feige says “That’s as far as it goes for now," there can probably be some hope taken from that "for now". As far as the hopeful MCU Spidey fans are concerned, that "for now" is a life-giver. It means the door isn't already closed.

Feige was also asked why he and Marvel aren't involved in Sony's spinoff projects, as had been apparently expected when the Sony deal was cut. He says simply that:

“We had a very particular plan about Spidey himself.”

None of this means Sony won't simply take their character and leave after 2019's summer season, but hopefully Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4 and Spider-Man 2 all do so well that they're compelled to extend the deal.

Unless Marvel just kill him off and have done with it? Now that would be a hell of a statement. It won't happen, obviously, but we're just spit-balling here.
