Avengers: Endgame - 9 Possibilities For The Secret New Post-Credits Scene

What could Endgame's new release and additional footage really mean?

Avengers: Endgame is returning to cinemas. Strictly speaking, Avengers: Endgame isn't even out of cinemas everywhere yet, but there's already a plan for it to get back to the big screen just before Spider-Man: Far From Home's theatrical release.

Kevin Feige has confirmed that Marvel are re-releasing the epic ensemble for a limited time with additional features added to it. He told ScreenRant that the film will return to cinemas on June 28 with some extra surprises:

Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.

The deleted scene is intriguing and the tribute is presumably for Stan Lee (or so you'd have to imagine - or else a tribute to the fans for making it so successful?), but it's the few surprises that is the really telling thing. It's being interpreted widely as a new post-credits scene added in post-production, much like the Schawarma Scene that was tagged onto The Avengers late in the day.

Let's explore that possibility a little more, shall we?

Had this come just AFTER the release of Far From Home, there could have been a chance of the stinger revealing that Tony Stark is alive, but there's just no way that Marvel would rob Far From Home of its emotional heart. But there has to be a reason for the timing, beyond something cynical (more of which soon) that links directly to something we weren't allowed to know until now. Surely, right?

That would suggest, mostly, that the post-credits scene will in some way relate to something that has been revealed since Endgame initially ended, that it has a direct tie to Spider-Man: Far From Home. But what could the new post-credits scene be, and what does it mean?!

9. A Multiverse Villain (Like Galactus?)

So, the link to Far From Home's release could mean a couple of things, but it is most intriguing to think of it in terms of Far From Home's reveal of the multiverse being "open."

At the end of Endgame, we had no idea of the impact the snap had had on other dimensions, but the second trailer for Far From Home confirmed that Thanos caused a rift that made travel between different realities possible. That information in a post-credits would have spoiled Far From Home's big secret, but since that was revealed in the marketing, it's now fair game to go back and explore that ramification.

So what if the rift also opened up a path for a huge multiverse villain like Galactus (or Annihilus) appearing in the main MCU timeline too? And what if a new post-credits could tease his eventual arrival using Silver Surfer?
