8. Odin & Collector's Explanations (Thor: The Dark World & Guardians Of The Galaxy)

As well as the fact that the Infinity Stones themselves have been introduced, two movies have gone to great lengths to describe what they are and what they do - 2013's Thor: The Dark World and 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. This is undoubtedly in preparation for the Avengers: Infinity War movies. In Thor: The Dark World, it was Odin who spoke about the Infinity Stones and in Guardians of the Galaxy, it was the Collector who had his say about them. Essentially, both characters described them as being older than the universe itself, extremely powerful, too dangerous for mere mortals to attempt to wield and as being remnants of the big bang itself forged into concentrated ingots. The Collector even showed how ancient Celestial beings used them to wipe out entire planets and civilisations - and that was individually, so we can only imagine how powerful Thanos is going to be when he possesses all six of them. Will the Avengers and their allies have a hope in hell against him? Only time will tell.
