Avengers: Infinity War - Is Silver Surfer Making A HUGE Surprise Appearance?

ANOTHER big character added in secret?

Silver Surfer Thanos
Marvel Comics

Just when you thought we were getting to the stage of pre-release marketing where all of Avengers: Infinity War's secrets were either out there already or staying locked firmly away for release, it looks like there may have been a stunning revelation about the Russos' ensemble epic.

Because despite some (now resolved) rights issues that made his involvement impossible, it looks like the Silver Surfer - who plays a huge role in the Infinity Gauntlet comic - might actually be appearing in the movie.

This news comes courtesy of the latest Metacritic cast listing, which includes Silver Surfer and the news that he is set to be played by Curt Clendenin - a fairly no-name actor whose roles have been limited to bit-parts so far. That would come as a surprise, but it's probably fair to assume that the Surfer role would be performance capture - which would suit someone unknown - with someone else voicing the character.

So what role would the Surfer be taking on? In the comics, it is he who warns the Avengers of Thanos' impending "rebalancing" of the universe (albeit after he is imprisoned by the Mad Titan within the Soul Stone), but there's no space for that role in the MCU version of this story as Thanos' arrival is already known about (or about to be uncovered).

But the film could still use the Surfer's Soul Stone captivity as a means to introduce him and use him as a powerful new addition to the heroic alliance. And then that could also set up a future appearance for Galactus as Thanos' follow-up villain.

This comes hot on the tail of Joe Russo confirming that "Captain Marvel is in it" and Peter Dinklage's participation FINALLY being confirmed by the new poster. Do you believe that it could be legitimate?
