After a lot of speculation, it's finally official: Avengers: Infinity War will feature the Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's not a major surprise, given the huge team-up event is likely to include the majority of characters already included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (just not those on the TV side of things), but it's still nice to have some confirmation.

The source is none other than Vin Diesel, who managed to say more than just "I am Groot" in a Facebook Live video (which you can check out at the bottom of this post), revealing:

"The Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War, and that’s incredibly exciting."

Exciting indeed. Given they're already linked to the Infinity Stones and Thanos, it makes sense to have them appear, and it'll be great fun to see how they interact with the established Avengers.

The teases for Infinity War don't end there though, with the Russo Bros. suggesting that there may be a new arrival for the film, which is due out in 2018.

Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, Anthony Russo said that the pair have their "hands full trying to tell the story we have with our preexisting characters," with Joe adding that "Anthony would probably die from exhaustion if we introduced another character." However, things were left open when Anthony came back with:

"That’s not to say we’re not going to introduce a new character.”

The most likely option, of course, is that Captain Marvel - played by Brie Larson - will be appearing in Infinity War before her solo film in 2019. The Russos, however, refused to be drawn on such speculation, with Anthony joking:

"If they ever cast that role, maybe. Do you know if they’ve cast it yet? That’s one we’re going to have to plead the fifth on.”

Hmm. We'll take that as a maybe, but introducing Larson's character here would certainly make sense.
