Batman V Superman: 12 Early Reactions You Need To Know

11. Wonder Woman Is Awesome

Considering how divisive Gal Gadot's casting was as Wonder Woman, it's a pleasure to report that critics are falling over themselves to praise her turn as the iconic superhero. More effusive reviews note that she "delivers a star making performance" (Heyuguys), "is the kick-ass revelation at this party" (Rolling Stone) and "gets the introduction she needs to trigger the required interest in the inevitable standalone feature" (The Guardian). Empire refers to her arrival as "a landmark moment in cinema, executed well", while IGN adds measured praise, that Gadot is "a fine choice as Wonder Woman, although her screen time here is limited". Still, like Affleck, Gadot is subject to the movie she's within, and so, "The problem with Wonder Woman - and the problem with a lot of Batman v Superman - is that she mostly exists to keep the title characters apart while the plot spins its wheels for almost two hours" (Screen Crush). Many critics also noted that Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL's Wonder Woman theme is the film's aural highlight: "the score knows she's the best thing in the film too, with a rocking theme that plays whenever she goes into action" (Digital Spy).
