Batman Vs. Superman Movie: 10 Villains That Would Pay Subtle Tribute To Nolan's Trilogy

A way to link the past to the present, and placate the fanboys.

Black Mask Regardless of how you personally felt about Man Of Steel the sequel became every comic book lover's most anticipated movie as soon as it was announced. When the news hit that Batman was going to be involved and that Zack Snyder was going to bring two of the most popular superheroes together for the first time on film, the internet imploded. And we here at What Culture are having a hell of a lot of fun with the debris. Now, I know you might be thinking that Snyder shouldn't be coming anywhere near Batman, especially because it feels like just yesterday when Christopher Nolan changed the comic book movie game with his outstanding Dark Knight trilogy. But what if Snyder found a way to salute Nolan's Batman universe by diving into the vast treasure chest of Batman's colourful villains? What if Snyder paid a subtle kind of tribute to Nolan's beloved trilogy? Let me explain. It can be something as small as a movie playing in the background of a scene, or the tone of a film like Bryan Singer's Superman paying tribute to Donner's 1970s version. Homages and props are given in pop culture and film all the time. So why not use Batman's lesser known villains, either as cameos, references or full on featured role, to pay tribute to Nolan's more popular and already used ones? The list I came up with includes villains I think would make a great cinematic entrance and to the best of my knowledge, all would be first-timers on film. The only rule I'm going by is that they have to be connected to a Batman villain used in a Nolan film. And just to make it clear, I'm not talking about obvious choices that would look like an excuse to use popular villains. So The Riddler, The Penguin and Poison Ivy are all out. I'm talking subtle menace, but just as deranged. Click Next to see what I mean.
