2. Itzhak Stern (Schindler's List)

itzhak-stern In 1993, Sir Ben Kingsley took the role of Itzhak Stern in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. Based on a true story, Itzhak Stern was the Jewish accountant to Oscar Schindler, a German factor owner who used his position to save Jewish lives during the holocaust in WWII. This, a role that woud be seen by many, many people, proved to be one of the best roles in Kingsley's career. As an actor, the man is great at making you feel emphatic - it's the subtleties here that really bring Stern to life, and allow you to feel like you're watching something plucked straight out of history. This is a role that really showcases Kingsley's talents and should have, at least, garnered him an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor. Kingsley did go on later to garner two more Oscar nods and one win years before Schindler's List, though. This is where we make our way to the best performance of his career. For all the great roles that Kingsley has taken over the past five decades, I don't think we can deny what is universally agreed to be his greatest ever performance...
