BEVERLY HILLS COP IV to be R-Rated after all?

Eddie Murphy without the ability to cuss and swear, does not make for an accurate or interesting Axel Foley. Without being able to say "Fuck", he is not the foul mouthed, slightly irritating but full of charisma character I saw in the first movie. Then again, I guess Murphy is not that same guy anymore either... Thank God Brett Ratner is not dumb enough to go that route to try and appease a younger age rating for Beverly Hills Cop IV which he is adamant will happen soon. Responding to the comments the upcoming movie would be a kid friendly PG-13, Ratner told Latino Review...

"Dont believe everything you read on the internet. Believe me, this is going to be a hard core 'R' Beverly Hills Cop. I start shooting next year"
Look as much as I ain't a Brett Ratner fan, IF he can get the old Eddie Murphy back (which seems a near impossible feat at this point) then it won't matter so much how bad his direction is, Murphy will carry the film for him. But what about Murphy, is he having second thoughts about this film and maybe his career at all? Promoting the absolutely shocking dreadful looking Meet Dave, he told Extra...
"I have close to fifty movies and it's like, why am I in the movies... I've done that part now. I'll go back to the stage and do standup." and that Beverly Hills Cop IV "wasn't ready to be done."
Though as we said, Ratner is convinced he is shooting it next year. Personally, I would love to see Murphy take some time off... go back and find his independent voice again in stand-up, leave Ratner to make his Playboy movie and then come back in a couple of years looking for some more meatier roles. source - aicn
