We all know that Bill Murray is a serial prankster and the kind of guy who would probably take much joy from messing with our heads. BUT, if his reluctance to fully support ‘Ghostbusters 3‘ (depending on his mood, he’s either in or out of the picture) is still the reason why Columbia haven’t yet managed to nail down a start date despite having a script they are keen on, then his appearance in costume (proton pack and all!) at last night’s Spike TV Scream Awards, might be too sickening a joke for many fans to swallow.
Either Murray’s saying to us ‘this is the closest you’ll ever get to me as Peter Venkman again’ or it’s a message to the world that he’s finally on board with the idea. Whatever the truth, it’s certainly curious and I bet the first time he’s appeared in full costume since the end of promotion on ‘Ghostbusters 2′ twenty years ago.
A moment I never thought I would ever see again. See the full image below and let me know whether he could still get away with being a ‘Ghostbuster’ at 60 years of age..

mannn, he looks OLD. i love Bill but i don’t know if people are going to take him seriously lookin like that even if he does appear in the next Ghostbusters. whether it was promotional or just a stint, i am happy to see him at least wear the outfit again after some odd years!
He may be old, but it’s good to see Dr Venkman after all these years. However knowing Bill it’s probably a wind up sadly :(
Dan Aykroyd has already confirmed that the Light is Green for Ghostbusters 3 and a Sony Rep Confirmed that the Script has been approved from Sony to Finally make a Ghostbusters 3. Dan said that Bill has a Comic Role of a Lifetime and that the GB3 SCript is Very Very Good and it’s been Confirmed from Dan and a Sony Rep! All 4 Original GB’s are in GB3 Training a new Team to help them out and that’s why Bill wore his Original GB Jumpsuit! Read the New GB3 Info from Dan and a Sony Rep and they will say that the Script has been Approved from Sony!
They do have a script… we know this.
The stumbling block is Bill Murray changes his mind every other day about whether he wants to do it or not and that Sony don’t want Ivan Reitman to direct. They want someone cooler, hipper and more down with the kids, basically. The failure of ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’ is hurting Reitman’s image to such an extent that they don’t want to chuck cash his way.
And if Reitman doesn’t direct, they lose ALL of the original cast members who don’t want to work with anyone else. So the film is in a proverbial stalemate right now. Which is why Reitman has been making the rom-com ‘No Strings’ because ‘Ghostbusters 3′ wasn’t going anywhere fast earlier this year.
If ‘No Strings’ proves popular with a younger crowd… then watch Sony reverse their decision on him directing soon enough.
