Ever since it was announced that Ben Affleck's Batman was going to be no more, people have speculated how they would introduce a new Caped Crusader. The DCEU would be nothing without a Batman after all. Birds of Prey will be the first DCEU film set in Gotham since the announcement, making it the perfect place to introduce him.

The film creators have released a statement that this film is set in a post-Batman Gotham. Why include this detail if they weren't planning a surprise reveal? Names such as Jon Hamm, Robert Pattinson, and Kit Harrington have been thrown around.

While there's still a discernable difference in tone between Marvel and DC, in more recent years DCEU films have taken some advice from it's much more successful rival. One of the biggest formulas that Marvel follows is to introduce a character a film or two before they get their own standalone. The DCEU has already begun doing this with Cyborg and the Flash.

If they do this with Batman as well, we may have an encounter with the new Batman sooner than any of us had previosuly expected.
