Black Widow Is Getting Her Own MCU Franchise

So much for being dead, eh?

Who says you can't achieve anything when you're dead?

It seems that Black Widow's death in Avengers: Endgame won't spell the end of her future appearances in the MCU, and I'm not just talking about her forthcoming stand-alone movie.

Thanks to The New York Times' Kyle Buchanan we now know that there is more in the works for her. He first reported that there are plans for a full Widow franchise after hearing Scarlett Johansson speak at the Elle Women in Hollywood dinner:

"ScarJo notes that the upcoming Black Widow is the first Marvel movie produced by one of its actors. She also referred to it as a 'standalone franchise' which is interesting if you expected it to be a one-off based on... you know."

Surely she can't be talking about a single movie if she mentions the F word?

There have actually been rumours recently that Widow is revived in Phase 4 - quite how, nobody can be entirely sure at the minute, but Doctor Strange or Loki might have something to do with it - which would definitely add credence to the suggestion.

And really, who doesn't want to see more of Black Widow? Presumably, Scarlett Johnasson is happy enough to continue playing the character... Unless a Black Widow franchise wouldn't even include her? There's always the chance that it would follow Florence Pugh in the lead instead?

Time, presumably, will tell.
