8. Cate Shortland Will Direct The Film Written By Jac Schaeffer
Black Panther and Captain Marvel definitely prove the MCU is committed to the ongoing movement of diversity in Hollywood. Marvel have hired their first female director with Anna Boden for Captain Marvel, and have found their second to helm the story for Natasha Romanoff.
You can tell they're taking this film very seriously, as the studio completed a year and a half search with over 70 female directors before making their choice. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland - who is known for Lore and Berlin Syndrome - finally got the gig.
THR also confirmed Romanoff's spy story has hired a female writer to pen the script. Jac Schaeffer, who got her start with the feature film TiMER, will write Widow's solo endeavour. She is known for writing Olaf's Frozen Adventure and the upcoming gender-swapped Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake, Nasty Girl.
It should also be mentioned that the film will be shot by Cinematographer Rob Hardy, whose most recent credit is the box office hit Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Marvel have put a solid crew together that sounds promising even before we get to any plot details.
