Bond 24: 15 Locations That 007 Should Visit Next

15. Dublin, Republic Of Ireland

Last Visited: Never Other films shot there: Haywire, Once, Byzantium Highlight: Kilmainham Gaol Why? It's surprising that of all the places Bond has been, he's never been to Ireland- granted the North may have been tricky up until recent years, but at least the South could have been visited. And rather than focus on the twee villages everyone loves to use in stereotypical fashion, Bond would be better off visiting Dublin, with its awkward mix of the historical and the urban. It's both distinctive and ambiguous, and might work as a rendezvous point away from London; or play host to a car chase or some sort of on-foot pursuit. Dublin has changed dramatically in the last decade, and it'd certainly be interesting for Bond to roam its streets. It's both dramatically different and oddly familiar as a location. There's enough eye candy to make it look good cinematically, and to some extent it can be seen as an oppressive, charmless place. There's a huge amount of creative opportunity at the Bond team's disposal if they chose to shoot in Dublin- whichever way they choose to go, Dublin provides some interesting choices as a location. 14. Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Last Visited: Diamonds are Forever Other films shot there: Ocean's Twelve, Bad Boys II, Layer Cake Highlight: What with this being Bond and all, it's tempting to say the Red Light District. But perhaps the endless network of Canals might prove more interesting for some kind of chase scene on the water. Why? As well as being one of Europe's most beautiful cities, there's the clichéd image of hedonism and debauchery to be exploited by the team behind Bond 24. The city is more than just sex and drugs, of course, and it's visually one of the most striking cities on the continent. Amsterdam is a city steeped in history and culture. It's small enough to be made full use of, but modern and cutting-edge enough to look cool and service any needs Bond has for getting in touch with MI6 or compiling information on whichever bad guy he's tracking. It's likely not a city that Bond would dwell in, but it's certainly a lovely stopover for whatever purpose the plot requires. Likelihood (out of 5): 3
