Bruce Willis & M. Night Shyamalan to re-team but it's probably not UNBREAKABLE 2, sigh...

M. Night Shyamalan and Bruce Willis are looking to team up again, and it's not an Unbreakable sequel? Damn. Despite Shyamalan and Willis both proclaiming their disappointment on a yearly basis for nearly ten years now that they were never allowed to make their sequel, and despite audiences being much more savvy towards comic book films these days (the original would be a MASSIVE success if it was released today), and despite the cult/beloved status Unbreakable now holds amongst our hearts - Disney and M. Night still refuse to pull the trigger on it. Just why not, I don't understand? Unbreakable 2 could be a big hit and the chances of seeing it happen decrease a little each year. THR report that Shyamalan is instead shopping around an original top secret project around Hollywood, which has, in this order, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Bruce Willis loosely attached. Now if it was indeed an Unbreakable sequel, Bruce Willis would have been the first name attached, unless his publicist is doing an amazing job keeping this on the down low. And one wouldn't think Shyamalan would need to keep the project under lock and key (studio bigwigs who€™ve been privy to the script have apparently had to agree to certain terms which include having one of his assistants deliver the script, oversee the reading of said script and then take it back), and wouldn't be shopping the film around as it's probably a property of Disney, as the original was made at Touchstone Pictures. Where there was once a time when a Shyamalan script caused much buzz and sent waves throughout Hollywood, it€™s been a while since he€™s scored a hit and it remains to be seen if any studio will take a risk on a Shyamalan original, no matter what the plot might end up being. His latest project, The Last Airbender, is out for release in the U.S. on July 1st and could bring some of that buzz back to Shyamalan as well as being his first attempt at a CGI effect fuelled (possible) franchise starter. Quite notably, the movie is also the first based on an idea not by Shyamalan himself. With his street cred having descended the minute he stopped working with Willis, if these rumours are to be believed, it€™s a nice boost for Shyamalan that he can attract him back, though in truth Willis' career has had the same nosedive over the past ten years. Paltrow and Cooper won't be cheap to hire these days, so there's an indicator that this M. Night movie will require a big budget. Wish we had more details on this, but right now this is all we have.
