Bumblebee: 8 Reasons Why It Will Be The Best Transformers Film Ever
7. A Lighter Runtime
The current runtime of Bumblebee is listed at 113 minutes and if you know the Transformers film franchise, you know that is nothing short of a miracle.
Every single one of the previous films has clocked in at two-hours-and-twenty-minutes or more. For crying out loud, Age of Extinction ran for a mind-numbing two-hours-and-forty-five-minutes. Those kinds of runtimes are generally reserved for Kubrick films or grand epics, not meandering CGI slugfests that have little-to-no-plot in the first place.
Thus, the fact that Bumblebee will not even reach the two-hour mark is perhaps the greatest Christmas gift fans could ask for. Even if it were terrible (it won't be), it would be substantially less painful than every prior entry to endure.
What's more, this lighter runtime seems to indicate that the film will be a much more tightly edited and structured film, rather than simply haphazardly jumping between subplots. It confirms that what we've been told all along is actually true; that Bumblebee will focus on fewer characters and have lower stakes, in the name of crafting a better story.
Thank the Lord.
