Captain America: Civil War - 10 MCU Problems It Needs To Fix

It might break the Avengers, but it can fix a whole lot more.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the outright most successful movie franchise of all time, grossing more than $9 billion since its inception in 2008. Its movies have largely been great - the likes of Iron Man, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man in particular have been fantastic - but the franchise isn't without its flaws. Things have happened that shouldn't have happened, things haven't happened that should have happened, glaring plot holes have been created and a lot of loose ends haven't been tied up - and those kinks need ironing out. The next opportunity to do that comes with the release of Captain America: Civil War in 2016. While the plot will involve the Avengers breaking up and fighting each other - which is somewhat ironic given the topic of this article - the movie can also fix a bunch of glaring fundamental flaws in the franchise...

10. Let The Avengers Know Coulson's Alive

Come on man, this is getting ridiculous now. Phil Coulson died in the Avengers movie back in 2012, but it was revealed that he was immediately taken to a secret location by Nick Fury and operated on, using fluids taken from a Kree's body, in order to bring him back from the dead. As a result, he has been alive and starring in television's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. since 2013. Two years later and the Avengers who banded together because of Coulson's death still don't know he's alive. Sure, the impact of his death and its importance to the plot of The Avengers would be undermined if they became aware of that fact, but it's ludicrous to think they wouldn't know by now. Coulson has been out in the open during a number of superhuman-centric events in the MCU and, at the very least, word would have made it back to the likes of Tony Stark that he was alive and well. In spite of Joss Whedon's wishes, Captain America: Civil War really should make the Avengers aware that Coulson lives - the idea of superhuman registration and the Sokovia Accords are something he would surely be heavily involved in.
