Captain Marvel Trailer 2 Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

3. There's Nothing Of Brie Larson In There

In the interest of showing off how powerful Captain Marvel is, the trailer makers appear to have forgotten that they're supposed to be selling Brie Larson as the new lead of the MCU. They've basically given us absolutely nothing of her actual performance other than a few "hero moment" quotes and lots of repeated shots of her doing the same actions as a young girl, a human woman and then as the empowered Kree version.

The editing in this trailer is not really something to love, but that's not the point here.

Of greater concern is the fact that those lines she does deliver- particularly the ones designed to be heavy-hitters like "I'm not going to stop the wheel, I'm going to break the wheel..." wait, sorry "I'm not going to fight your war.... I'm going to end it" - seem to lack something. Let's hope that's because she's an alien and it's before she regains some of her humanity, but you'd think that sort of line would come right at the end of the film.
