The wait is finally over, True Believers - the trailer for Captain Marvel has arrived and it looks absolutely stunning. Complete with eye-catching moments and key reveals aplenty, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's feature looks set to kick off the MCU's 2018 with a bang, before Avengers 4 comes around a few months after.

There's a lot to love about this new trailer, including Brie Larson's rendition of Carol Danvers as well as young Nick Fury, but there are quite a few subtle details too that some viewers may have overlooked. With references to beloved Marvel Comics storylines, callbacks to certain costumes and even a few sneaky shots that divulge some of the plot, this initial teaser has actually given away more than most perhaps realise.

March 2019 might seem like a long time to go, but with this teaser and a likely follow-up to keep us going, as well as a buttload of related Captain Marvel media, it should be here in no time at all.

The first snippet of info we're given to piece together Carol Danvers' situation comes relatively early on into the trailer, after Carol has emerged from a Blockbuster rental store (gone, but forever in our hearts).

With a narration provided by Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, we're informed that she's a "renegade soldier", and given what we know about Carol's association with the Kree Military - in particular the unit known as Starforce - it's likely that she's broken ties with them to return to Earth, and even likelier that it has something to do with her apparent amnesia.
