"Caravaggio meets FIGHT CLUB"... what exciting movie has been described as thus?

Tarsem Singh, the visually epic director of THE CELL and THE FALL has told Empire magazine that his upcoming Greek mythology movie WAR OF THE GODS will be "a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style". He describes it as "Caravaggio meets FIGHT CLUB". Examples of Caravaggio... caravaggio22caravaggio-taking-of-the-christ-797656 Singh also confirms the November casting of THE TUDORS star Henry Cavill for his movie. But maybe the most interesting part of his interview is this comment...

"I€™m going for a very contemporary look on top of that so I€™m kind of going with, you know, Renaissance time with electricity. So it€™s a bit like Baz Luhrman doing Romeo + Juliet in Mexico; it€™s just talking a particular Greek tale and half contemporizing it and telling it."
You remember ROMEO & JULIET? Shakespeare's language in a very 9o's setting. Could that work with Greek mythology? Personally I was quite looking forward to an out and out period Greek epic but I guess with so many movies (GOD OF WAR namely) taking on this setting right now, something different is always welcome. And well, Singh never lets us down in the different department but let's hope it doesn't go for a 300 carbon copy.
