Chris Cooper is Norman Osborn In The Amazing Spider-Man 2

chris cooper green goblin Keeping up the tradition of prestige actors playing Peter Parker's nemesis', The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news tonight that the Oscar winning Chris Cooper will play Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He will follow in the foot-steps of the great Willem Dafoe who played the classic baddie in the original Spider-Man movie. Whether that means we'll additionally see Norman's villainous masked alter-ego The Green Goblin in Sony's forthcoming sequel has yet to be confirmed but my guess is we'll see him introduced as a supporting character in this one, before going all bad in the third... re-creating a classic moment that could be deemed spoilerish here. Although The Amazing Spider-Man 2 already looks jam-packed with villains already (Jamie Foxx is the main antagonist Electro, Paul Giamatti plays henchman The Rhino), it really is no surprise to see the character of Norman Osborn involved with this movie. His company, Oscorp, was a key component of the first movie where Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) worked and his son, Harry Osborn, had already been cast... Chronicle star Dane DeHaan stepping into the shoes of James Franco. Here's the synopsis we have for the movie so far;
In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy €“ between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away €“ but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
Shailene Woodley (as Mary Jane Watson), Felicity Jones (as Black Cat or Betty Brant???), Sally Field (Aunt May) and Martin Sheen (flashbacks as Uncle Ben) will also appear. Marc Webb is back in the director's chair for the already filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, hitting theaters May 2, 2014.
