Chris Nolan 2017: 10 Movies He Might Direct Next

10. Akira

If you€™re up to date with movie news, you will have heard recently that Christopher Nolan has been linked to one big new movie in particular. He€™s apparently circling the live action take on Akira, the iconic 1988 anime film by Katsuhiro Otomo, who based said animation on his own manga comics series. Centring on a teenaged biker called Tetsuo Shima, Akira is a story set in a post-nuclear-war city dubbed Neo-Tokyo. After discovering that he has powers similar to Akira €“ the incarcerated psychic who caused World War III €“ Tetsuo goes about trying to free Akira. There€™s lots of opportunities for fights, explosions and cool motorbike scenes. Warner Bros. are said to be working on a film trilogy based on elements of the anime and the manga and Mr Nolan, apparently, has met with them to discuss the project. George Miller was previously linked, but that rumour came to nothing. Perhaps this story will go the same way, or maybe Akira is the as-yet-unnamed 2017 Christopher Nolan movie that Warner Bros has already announced. Nolan certainly displayed affection for motorbike chase scenes during The Dark Knight trilogy, after all.
