Coen Brothers to make violent Spaghetti Western!

I was finally sent a DVD screener of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN this week and I was absolutely blown away by it like no other film I have seen this year. The Coen Brothers are a pair of directors I have always greatly admired but not since MILLER'S CROSSING have I actually been fully satisfied with a film of theirs, but Jesus Christ, they hit a home run this year. It's the most exciting, note perfect film of the year. Every scene breathes with life and gives you something extra. The writing, the directing, the pacing, the way it's shot, the acting, the music... everything is amazing.

If I get chance I will give it a full review but I've got literally a stack full of DVD's that line up to the ceiling to try and get through before the end of the weekend. Anyway, surprisingly, we have some real news today. It comes from Ireland Online. Just get a load of what the Coen Brothers have been getting up to in their spare time and presumably before the WGA strike...
"We've written a western with a lot of violence in it," he said. "There's scalping and hanging € it's good. "Indians torturing people with ants, cutting their eyelids off." Ethan added: "It's a proper western, a real western, set in the 1870s. It's got a scene that no one will ever forget because of one particular chicken."

Would the Coen's even go out to Italy and shoot one over their?

It's about time we got a new Spaghetti Western. This year we've had a modern day Western (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN), a bad ass old school Hollywood Western (3:10 TO YUMA) and the revisionist, methodically paced Western (THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD).

A new Spaghetti Western might just fill a void.

Thanks to Tom for the heads up!
