Colin Trevorrow To Follow Jurassic World With Sci-Fi Film Intelligent Life

Original movie likely to take his attention before a Jurassic World sequel.

Before Colin Trevorrow ascended to the A-list with Jurassic World, he and his writing partner Derek Connolly (no relation, as far as I know) were cooking up a series of more modestly budgeted genre pictures. One of these was Safety Not Guaranteed, which launched their feature film careers, and another was something called The Ambassador. The premise here revolved around a UN envoy trained to help us deal with any aliens who make contact who ends up falling in love with a space lady. Presumably a rather humanoid space lady. According to The Wrap, the project is getting a makeover, a budget boost and a new deal with Dreamworks. Retitled Intelligent Life and now couched as expanding on the original idea, the picture is expected to be Trevorrow's next film after Jurassic World. And then I bet he'll back on dinosaur duty again. If you were waiting for his projected film of The Flight of the Navigator, right now is about when you should take a deep breath and try to get over it, I think. I hope the piling on of more money doesn't compromise Trevorrow and Connolly's original intentions and only add scope and possibility, not file things down and curve the edges off. Jurassic World opens on July 11th.
