Could Negan Be Getting His Own Walking Dead Movie Next?

"This is the kind of thing that just tickles my balls!"

While the Walking Dead comic is no more, the multimedia Walking Dead franchise trundles ever-onward with the Rick Grimes movie from AMC heading into cinemas and not just on TV and more of the show and Fear The Walking Dead to come.

Intriguingly, the Rick Grimes movie might not even be the only one we get, either, at least according to Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The actor, who plays Negan, of course, says that he might be getting his own movie too.

Morgan spoke to ComicBook.com at Comic Con and revealed not only that a Negan movie is under discussion but that there appears to be a timeline for it too. Or at least that's the hint in his statement:

"I know that it's been discussed. I, we gotta do it before I get any older, I mean, pretty soon I'm not gonna be able to be the young Negan anymore."

Clearly, we'd be looking at a prequel here, because there's no time travelling in The Walking Dead so younger has to mean it's set prior to his arrival in the TV series. That means it could be an adaptation of the Here's Negan comic that shows what Negan was doing when the outbreak first occurred and the origin story of Lucille, his barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat.

Morgan also spoke about the first Grimes movie - since it's the first of three that were announced - and how there could be hints coming in Season 10 that might set it up:

"I think that we should probably pay attention to Josh [McDermitt as Eugene Porter] and his CB setup. That's me reading in to it, and kind of knowing the comic, where that goes. But I think that that might lead us to something, but you know, over on Fear they've shown that helicopter and that symbol and so, you know, that world's are kind of, intertwined at this point."

What do you think? Would you take a Negan movie? Share your reactions below in the comments thread.
