Creature from the Black Lagoon begins pre-production

I've almost lost the energy to bitch about these pathetic remakes. I remember two years ago when I first heard that Sahara director Breck Eisner had been hired to remake the Universal Horror Classic picture Creature from the Black Lagoon for Strike Entertainment. I brushed it off... yeah this guy ain't going to get it made. Bigger and more talented directors in the past have expressed interest and even bought the rights to the famous 50's movie and then realised that they would be stupid to try and better it. John Carpenter (who tried for a long time remaking it), Guillermo Del Toro, Stephen Sommers and Brett Ratner have all expressed interest in remaking the flick but all knew it just couldn't be done.

There's something extremely beautiful about the original film and the way it was shot adds to this. You just know they are going to go HIGH ON NUDITY for a modern day remake and hore it out with lots of sex and gore. Seabiscuit scribe Gary Ross (the son of the original's writer Arthur Ross) wrote the script which now is probably closer to fruition than anytime over the last decade as Bloody Disgusting report the film has now begun pre-production.
