Dallas movie back on

11.jpegRegency and 20th Century Fox have resurrected the movie adaptation of Dallas which at Christmas was dead and buried. The flick which was suppose to be released at the end of this year starring Luke Wilson, John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez and Shirley MacLaine and from the director of Bend it Like Beckham was canned. The way it was reported last October was the studio were concerned over the huge $65 million budget and decided to fire some of the bigger paid actors on the movie, with the intention to re-cast with those who would work for cheaper. Out went everyone except John Travolta as J.R. Erwing, the guy who was going to be the poster boy and headliner of the movie. That re-casting never happened and the movie was put back on the shelf. Until today anyway... Variety say Betty Thomas (Doctor Dolittle) will direct the movie which is now far less expensive to make than it was this time last year. The movie is expected to be a spoof of the television show, which with Thomas' last two comedy ventures being John Tucker Must Die and I Spy, I really don't think I can be blamed for having reservations about this flick. Starsky and Hutch? The Dukes of Hazzard? Did those comedy/spoof remakes of old U.S. T.V. shows work? Definitely not, and this will be just the same.
