9. Make It About The Monsters

You'd think a movie called The Mummy would actually be about, um, you know... a mummy - but it's focus was Tom Cruise's random army sergeant.

Never in the days of the great Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff would you get a horror movie where the monster is pushed out of the spotlight by a clean-cut hero.

The black heart and tortured soul of these films was always the creature of the night, and The Mummy could have been a very different (better) film had Sofia Boutella's bandaged baddie been given more screen time.

With Javier Bardem set to play the Monster in Bride of Frankenstein, there's a good chance the next movie will select the correct focal point, although an undead Bardem wasn't enough to save the latest Pirate of the Caribbean sequel.
