Darren Aronofsky's seventh film, Mother!, is in cinemas now, and while you may or may not be a fan of everything he's released over the last two decades, it's fair to say that Aronofsky is one of the most uniquely innovative directors working today.

From grounded dramas to a big-budget blockbuster and even some divergences into surreal, over-the-top horror, Aronofsky's filmography is as diverse as it is entrancing, and whether you prefer his lower-budget origins or more ambitious recent features, his films typically offer an experience like nothing else out there.
