David Slade Calls DAREDEVIL Reboot Script 'Amazing', Update in New Year

30 Days of Night director says script needs a little more work but a production start & release date could be announced next month.

There hasn't been much to report on Fox's attempts to reboot the Daredevil franchise since the potential new movie was announced back in March but director David Slade has offered us an update via his Twitter, letting us known a first draft of the script has been completed and we can expect to hear more in the New Year. Presumably then if the script is to the studio's liking (though Slade does say it needs more work) it could begin filming next year for a 2013 or 2014 release. That draft comes from Fringe writer Brad Caleb Kane and back in March we heard he was tasked with writing a €˜continuation€™ of the franchise that began with an extremely mediocre 2003 film starring Ben Affleck. Though despite the €˜continuation€™ label, we were told the new script won€™t have anything to do with the previous film that€™s now nearly a decade old. So it€™ll basically exist as Louis Leterrier€™s The Incredible Hulk did to Ang Lee€™s Hulk... so it's basically, pretty much a reboot. David Slade, director of 30 Days of Night, Hard Candy and one of the Twilight movies (his big sell out moment) is hoping to make a Daredevil reboot his next movie.
