David Yates back for HARRY POTTER 7

Sorry Hogwarts fans, Guillermo del Toro couldn't turn down the job of re-creating Middle-Earth and his involvement in THE HOBBIT has 100% ruled out any chance of him directing a HARRY POTTER movie. Instead it looks like David Yates will be returning to finish off the series. He helmed the last movie HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and is currently helming the next one - with HARRY POTTER 7 capping off his own little trilogy in 2010. That's unless the rumors of the last movie being split into two flicks is correct, then it will be a four theatrical POTTERS for Yates. Here's the news from Children's author Lois Lowry, thanks to her official blog...

Bad news from The Giver Movie front. David Yates, the director currently working on the next Harry Potter film, was supposed to begin The Giver film next. But he has just decided he wants to do the final Harry Potter first, thereby postponing The Giver by several years. Maybe the opening of this film could be held simultaneously with my celebration-of-life service after I succumb to old age? Or the producers will decide to get a different director. Stand by. But without holding your breath.
