DC Extended Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Film By Anticipation

Sequels. Solos. Team-ups. What do fans have to look forward to?

DC Cinematic Universe
Warner Bros.

Love it or hate it, the DC Extended Universe isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Though this year's Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad faced a heavy amount of critical backlash, both films made money, and Warner Bros. is still moving forward with their ever-expanding slate of sequels, solo adventures, and team-up projects lined up for release over the next few years.

Rumors have run rampant surrounding the behind the scenes state of the DCEU, particularly in the wake of Batman v Superman's reception, and only time will tell if lessons have been learned by everyone involved in bringing such a massive slate of projects to the big screen.

That said, characters and stories fans have been waiting decades to see brought to life are on the way, and in spite of the divisiveness of the DCEU to date, it's impossible to not hold out hope that these upcoming projects get it right; that whether you're a discerning critic or just a general audience member, they'll live up to and, perhaps, exceed everyone's expectations.

Disregarding projects that are mere rumor or have yet to publicly get a go-ahead, like a second Suicide Squad, let's look ahead to the films that Warner Bros. and DC have confirmed to be happening between now and 2020 in an effort to sort out which ones are worth getting most excited about...

11. Cyborg

DC Cinematic Universe
Warner Bros.

Release Date: April 3, 2020

All the way back in April of 2014, it was announced that little-known theatre actor Ray Fisher would be bringing the character of Victor "Cyborg" Stone to life on the big screen. Over two and a half years later and we still haven't gotten to fully meet the character, who - despite having a fleeting cameo in Batman v Superman - will get his full introduction in the first Justice League film next year.

As it stands, Cyborg's solo outing is the second-furthest project out from a confirmed release, and considering that we don't know where such a story could go yet, or even who is writing and/or directing the film, the excitement isn't really there for it yet, especially considering the fact that Warner Bros. could get cold feet and drop the film from the slate entirely or merge it with something else.

Fortunately, fans looking forward to the character making the leap to the big screen won't have a shortage of him over the next few years, as after Justice League he'll be appearing in The Flash in 2018 and the second Justice League in 2019. But for now, the prospect of seeing the character out on his own isn't all that alluring with so much else on the way.
