DC Rumour: Legion Of Doom Movie Plans Shelved

So much for creating a league of their own.

Justice League ended with a big tease for the future, with Slade Wilson boarding Lex Luthor’s boat and the supervillain asking him: “Shouldn’t we form a league of our own?”

The two bad guys getting together and the wink-wink dialogue pointed towards a movie based around villainous group Legion of Doom.

In the comics, Luthor recruits the likes of Deathstroke, Black Manta, and Cheetah for the Legion, all villains who currently or will soon exist in the DC movie universe (now known as Worlds of DC), so it’s easy to see the building blocks being put in place here.

However, Justice League was a critical and commercial flop, which has led to major changes to Warner Bros plans and, according to Revenge of the Fans, Legion of Doom has now been scrapped.

They report that the new President of DC Films, Walter Hamada, wants to focus on standalone movies rather than crossovers, hence shelving the team-up.

It needs to be taken with a pinch of salt for now, and Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello maintains his solo movie is happening, but in the current DC landscape it’s easier to imagine this project not happening than it is seeing it come to light.

Do you still hope to see a Legion of Doom movie? Let us know down in the comments.
