DCEU: 9 New Revelations About DC's Future Movies

Batman rumours killed, Joker movies cancelled and TWO Aquaman movies coming...

On the back of Aquaman's billion dollar, record-breaking success at the box office, there's considerable reason to be excited if you're a DC comic book movie fan. It's being widely talked about that the franchise, now apparently no longer called the DCEU but still lumbered with that short-hand (it's easier and more recognisable and they did it to themselves, like when Pizza Hut tried to call themselves Pasta Hut, the idiots), has turned a corner.

Looking to the future, the immediate concerns are Shazam! and the strange Joker "origin" movie first and then Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds Of Prey. Those four ought to make a couple of billion between them and then we've got James Gunn's Suicide Squad, Matt Reeves The Batman and Supergirl all coming in pretty quick succession among other projects.

Not so long ago, Warner Bros' approach to DC movies seemed to be loading a railgun with every DC character possible and shooting a canvas to generate ideas. In the past few years we've had mention of Batgirl, Nightwing, Gotham City Sirens, Lobo, Cyborg, The Flash, Deadshot and an almost endless procession of projects that just appear to have quietly gone silent or passed into development stasis entirely.

While we wait for firm updates on any of those, though, we've had a raft of information dropped (partly thanks to Forbes) on some other upcoming DC projects that make for seriously interesting reading...

9. Robert Pattinson Won't Be Batman

With Ben Affleck now stepped away from The Batman and Matt Reeves looking for a younger version of Bruce Wayne, it's inevitable that the rumour mill is churning out suggestions left, right and centre.

Jake Gyllenhaal was linked for a long while and names like Adam Driver have popped up as well as Robert Pattinson, which would be great. Sadly, according to the Forbes report, there's no truth to that particular one:

“The new rumors about Robert Pattinson are just fan rumors right now, nothing more (although for the record he’s a good actor and any negative fan reactions are unwarranted).”
