There are definitely some real gasp moments in there, but it isn't QUITE as subversive as you'd like it to be. Given how far we are into the culture of comic book movies (there are already cynics calling Deadpool 2 the worst example of over-saturation), it's the perfect time to skewer the industry, and while there's some of it in there, there's not a lot of lampooning going on.

The X-Force team-up sequence is legitimately genius in that respect, but Deadpool 2 doesn't quite go far enough to avoid becoming the things it (and its predecessor) sought to target with its barbed comedy.

At times, it definitely feels like they're pulling punches, though it's definitely not a major concern for most of the run-time.
